"The linguist is a language expert. He is able to analyze and deepen the origin of languages, their evolution over time and their structure, ie morphological, syntactic, phonetic, semantic. The figure of the linguist can study and analyze both ancient languages. Let us not forget that the linguist is an expert both in ancient languages, in Europe, typically Greek and Latin, and in contemporary ones, as well as in both written and spoken language, including dialects. The linguist is not only interested in languages ​​themselves, but also in social processes, as those who practice this profession study the learning process, both of children and adults, of linguistic knowledge. Not only the linguist also deals with how language influences the way in which individuals interact with each other in a given context and / or the way of considering the environment and the surrounding social world. A recent development in the field of linguists' work is that related to artificial intelligence. By working in groups with other professionals with a more technical and IT background, linguists can help develop new artificial intelligence tools (for example intelligent methods of interrogation and speech recognition, or automatic translation).
