An intensive and hands-on introduction to the role of the live studio director/vision mixer. Working in our own HD studios and with a full crew, combining the skills required to both direct and vision mix live studio output, ranging from news, chat shows to shopping channels, often unrehearsed and unscripted. This course offers a balance of theory and plenty of opportunity for hands-on training, working with crew and talent. Suitable for: Candidates new to the industry or college leavers wishing to gain further skills. Vision mixers with little or no directing experience. Directors with little or no vision mixing experience. Already established director/vision mixers wishing to enhance their skills.

Course programme

An intensive and hands-on introduction to the role of the live studio director/vision mixer. Working in our own HD studios and with a full crew, combining the skills required to both direct and vision mix live studio output, ranging from news, chat shows to shopping channels, often unrehearsed and unscripted. Techniques covered include knowing the HD vision mixing desk, keying, layering, use of programme and preset bus, ME banks, DVE, transitions, masking etc. Directing multi studio cameras and understanding camera angles. Working with producers and presenters. This course offers a balance of theory and plenty of opportunity for hands-on training, working with crew and talent.
