This course is the same as the one which is delivered on campus at the University of Northampton. Students take the same modules and complete the same assessments. Students are provided with full access to the University's online library and virtual learning environment. Students complete this LLB (Hons) degree in two years by extending the academic year into the summer vacation periods. This Qualifying Law Degree provides exemption from the academic stage of training for both branches of the legal profession. Upon graduation students intending to qualify as a Solicitor or Barrister of England and Wales can immediately progress onto the Legal Practice Course (for intending solicitors) or the Bar Professional Training Course (for intending barristers). Students experience a wide range of teaching and assessment methods. Whilst traditional lectures play a part, most modules include student-centred activities such as seminar debates and discussions, group and/or individual presentations and project work. In all of these activities students are expected to use the full range of electronic and internet resources available. Students also have access to a dedicated Court Room for moots and mock trials. Assessment methods vary from module to module. Some are assessed by a combination of examination and coursework, some by coursework only. All classes take place at Birkbeck College (Bloomsbury campus) and students have full access to library facilities.
