Course programme

This fully informative course uses aids such as PowerPoint presentations and physical moving and handling activities to help candidates learn and gain knowledge and confidence in using their skills.

The course is also relevant for anybody who is working towards an NVQ in Care.

The topics covered in the course are: causes of injury; ergonomics; biomechanics; warm-up exercises; strain and load management; the law; risk assessments. The full-day course covers the moving and handling of both people and inanimate loads. The half-day (refresher) course focusses only on the moving and handling of either people or inanimate loads.

The Moving and Handling course is VOISE accredited and upon completion of the course the candidate will receive a certificate.

This course does not include hoist usage. Staff should discuss this with their Manager/Training Department.
