This two-day course uses practical exercises and in the round discussion to get you started on your local history writing. You can also join the course if you want to work on parts of something you are already writing. Local history writing covers a huge range of interests, places and passions. Writing about local history allows you, as the writer, to be creative and a bit of an explorer in your local area of choice.
The Tutor
Tutor, journalist and broadcaster Allis Moss is the author of the local history book: ‘The Jigsaw Journey’ which was produced with an Arts-in-Action grant. As a White Rose Scholar, Allis is a researcher of nineteenth century European history. She has written about history for many years for the BBC and other channels, including an edition of Witness for World Service to mark the centenary of the British nurse Edith Cavell. She has also produced history material for Radio 4 and other BBC networks such as for From Our Own Correspondent, Excess Baggage, Loose Ends, Heart and Soul and Countryfile.
