Overview
MA Live Art is the first master’s programme of its kind, and will support research and practice in performance art and site-specific, intimate and durational performance, as well as other forms of experimental practice.
The course is led by research leaders, industry professionals, and high-profile practising artists and is part of an exciting partnership of the Drama Department at QMUL with Live Art Development Agency (LADA), a centre for Live Art advocacy, preservation and programming.

Structure

Students follow a prescribed sequence of four assessed modules and one non-assessed module (120 credits at Level 7), followed by a dissertation (60 credits).

The assessed modules include a mix of seminars and practice-based modules.

Semester 1

  • “Live Art Histories” (30 credits)
  • “Performance Lab” (30 credits)

Semester 2

  • “Disciplines of Live Art” (30 credits)

Choose one 30 credit practical module:

  • “Independent Practical Project” (30 credits)

or

  • B. “Cultural Industries” (30 credits)

“Research Design” (0 credits)

Exam Term-Semester 3/Summer:

Choose one 60-credit project:

A. “Dissertation” (60 credits)

or

B. "Practice-based Dissertation" (60 credits)
