Who is this course for?
For people considering a move into a first line management role or those who are new to such a role.

What previous knowledge/experience are required?
No specific knowledge, skills or experience are required, but people working in a supervisory capacity would benefit from the course.

What is the level of the course?
Level 3

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
To help you learn, as a first line manager or aspiring first line manager, about : Developing yourself, the importance of a customer focus, gathering and communicating information, setting objectives, planning & monitoring and working effectively.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
We aim to make your study experience enjoyable with a learner-centred approach, incorporating personal research, discussion, group work, role play, video and information technology.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
By an assignment set and marked by the Chartered Management Institute, consisting of a written project where you will consider management concepts and processes relevant to a working setting of your choice. Additionally, course progress will be assessed.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
The course leads to the Introductory Certificate in Management of the Chartered Management Institute.

What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
Specific homework will sometimes be set, but you will be expected to undertake regular individual research through reading, Internet searches and research in your chosen organisation, as well as work on your assignment.

What can I do after completing this course?
You can progress to a full level 3 Management qualification, such as the CMI Certificate in Management or Level 3 NVQ in Management.

Text books and computers are available in the college, though you may wish to buy your own books.

You are required to attend every lesson on time.
