This one-day hands-on course will introduce you to the symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and both surgical and non-surgical treatment options for patients.
This course will cover:
symptoms and clinical manifestation of the TMD patient
function and physiology of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
causes of, and various conditions which lead to, TMD
the diagnosis pathway and required diagnostic examinations
management of the acute TMD symptoms
occlusal complications
The possible treatment options covered in the course are:
prescribed medications and complimentary therapies
surgical treatment: how is the general dental practitioner (GDP) involved? When should you refer and to whom?
splints and Michigan splint fabrication
