Psychopathology in Psychotherapeutic Practice

* Reality, Normality and Individuality - When and How does Difference become Difficulty?
* Theories and models of psychopathology centred around DSM-IV categories
* Specific knowledge about Depression, Mania, Psychosis and Anxiety Disorders as the main ‘acute' (axis I) mental disorders
* Formulation diagnostic questions using the DSM-IV categories as guidance
* Practice diagnostic questions and risk assessment in role plays
* Elements of psychopharmacology - drugs commonly used in treatment
* The relationships of the above to linking the practice of Hypnotherapy, NLP and Contemporary Psychotherapy with signs and symptoms of psychopathology - Can diagnosis inform the therapy process?
* Personality disordered clients - diagnosis of axis II disorders and its implications for the therapeutic relationship
* Recognising when individuals are severely disturbed and outside of limitations of own practice
