The shunting operator is someone dedicated to shunting operations inside a railway. The term maneuver defines, in the regulatory lexicon of railways, any movement of railway rolling stock with or without locomotives carried out at moderate speed and within service locations such as railway stations, marshalling yards, traffic stations or industrial connections. The movements of rolling stock defined as maneuvering can be of a simple or very complex type; maneuvers are also defined as the movements of a locomotive that moves from a waiting track to the head of the train that it will have to tow or of the one that detaches from the oncoming vehicles to go to the station or to the locomotive depot.
