Course Content: This course will help you gain many practical skills and ensure you learn how to:

3. Describe the range of equipment and resources
4. Describe the correct use of different types of manicure tools
5. State the objectives for providing manicure treatments
6. Identify known contra-indications which prevent or restrict manicure treatments
7. Describe how to treat a range of skin and nail conditions
8. Outline the effects of key ingredients of manicure products on the nail and skin
9. State the methods of evaluating the effectiveness of manicure treatments
10. Describe a range of massage techniques and their effects on the underlying tissues
11. Identify the contra-actions that may result from a manicure treatment
12. State the aftercare advice that should be provided
13. Describe the structure, main functions, main diseases and disorders of the skin and nail.
14. Describe the functions of the blood
15. State the names and positions of bones in the arm and hand
Special Features: Assignments and tasks

If you have not worked in the Beauty Industry or studied any other formal beauty or holistic qualifications, you will be required to achieve Working in the Beauty Industry Units: 201 - Working in beauty therapy, 202 - Maintain health and safety in the salon and 203 - Consult and advise clients on treatments, via an on-line distance learning and an on-line exam in college (A cost of £50 is required to cover the registration and exam fees). You are required to wear a salon uniform or all black.
