This two year, 1 evening per week course will further your skills and knowledge in Marine Electrical Installation & Engine Maintenance, and is aimed at candidates with some previous experience or knowledge in marine, and/or an electrical/mechanical discipline.

You will be working in a classroom and workshop environment where your duties will encompass many areas of work such as installation and identification of equipment, materials and components and the principles that govern the electrical supply systems installed and used on small to medium leisure craft. As well as developing a detailed knowledge and understanding of marine engines and their auxillary systems.

Course programme

Course Content

To gain the Marine Electrical Engineering Qualification you will work towards the following components:
  • 301 Safe & effective working in the marine industry
  • 303 Principles of marine construction & components
  • 312 Principles of marine electrical engineering
  • 309 Installation and repair of marine engines
On completion of the above units you will be awarded the C&G 2463-03 Level 3 Certificate in Marine Electrical Systems, Engineering and Maintenance.
