About this course
7 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English. Mathematics Higher Level at grade B or above. How long is the course? The course is divided into AS and A2. Students can take AS over one year or both AS & A2 units over two years to make up a full A Level. Cost: Approx £13 per module for textbooks.

What is the course about?
AS Level
The following one year courses will be available:
Core & Mechanics C1, C2, M1
Core & Statistics C1, C2, S1
Core & Decision C1, C2, D1
C1: Algebra and functions, co-ordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane; sequences and series; differentiation; integration.
C2: Trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; integration.
S1: Representation and symphony of data; probability; correlation and regression; discrete random variables; discrete distributions; the Normal distribution.
M1: Mathematical models in mechanics; vectors in mechanics; kinematics of a particle moving in a straight line; dynamics of a particle moving in a straight line on plane; statics of a particle; moments.
D1: Algorithms; algorithms on graphs; the route inspection problem; critical path analysis; linear programming; matchings; flows in networks.
If students wish to progress to the A2 Level, they must obtain a grade D or above.
A2 Level
A Level Mathematics
In the second year students will study Core Mathematics 3 & 4 plus one more module from: M1, M2, S1, S2, D1 and D2.
C3:: Algebra and functions; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; numerical methods.
C4:Algebra and functions, co-ordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane; sequences and series; differentiation; integration; vectors.
S2: The Binomial and Poisson distributions; continuous random variables; continuous distribution; samples; hypothesis tests.
D2: Transportation problems, allocation (assignment) problems, the travelling salesman, game theory, dynamic programming.
M2:Kinematics of a practical moving in a straight line or a plane, centres of mass, work and energy, collisions, statistics of rigid bodies.
