Who is this course for?
This is a contextualised teaching assistant numeracy course for students who have an interest in becoming a teaching assistant but need to improve their maths skills.

What previous knowledge/experience are required?
No formal qualification but an ability to commit to attending classes regularly is essential

What is the level of the course?
Entry levels E1 E2 & E3

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
The course will cover mental skills such as strategies for application of the four rules (addition, subtraction, multiplication), use different methods to learn the times table, metric measures, use of maths in everyday life, shapes, handling data as well as learning how to be a teaching assistant

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
Teaching methods will include a variety of approaches including whole and small group work, practical activities as well as 1:1 support.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
Progress on the course will be assessed through regular homework assignments and written feedback from your tutor in mid and end of term reviews

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
Edexcel entry levels - your teacher will discuss this with you

What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
Commit to attend, complete assignments and homework required to successfully complete the course

What can I do after completing this course?
You will be able to join WMC level 1 or level 2 - Teaching Assistant course and/or a Literacy course (at the next the next level) or any other course at the college
