- Health and safety
- Relevant parts of BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations
- Fault finding using continuity and insulation tests on a range of single and three phase motors
- Control of a.c. motor systems
- Factors affecting cable selection
- Connect a simple relay unit to control remote loads
- Use of instruments including measurement of voltage
- Connect and test a range of control devices including proximity sensors and limit switches
- Location of faults on isolated three phase systems
- Visual inspection and testing and interpretation of results
- Reading electrical drawings and symbols to BSEN60617
- Comprehensive review Parts 1, 2 and 3 and preparation for the final written paper
- Theory to support the practical activities listed above
Practical competence-based assessments and a short answer written paper to test knowledge and understanding.
Certification:Following completion of all three parts of the programme, a City and Guilds 1602 Certificate will be issued on gaining a positive outcome.
