Content The course comprises of four separate units each of 10 weeks x 2.75 hour duration. The units are Oxy-acetylene Welding and Cutting, Manual Metal Arc Welding, Metal Arc Gas Shielded Welding, Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded Welding. Health and Safety procedures will be introduced at appropriate stages throughout the course. The course is devoted to the principles and techniques of welding; you will receive a comprehensive booklet explaining the basic principles and techniques of welding and safe use of equipment.

Assessment Practical assessment of weld joints to include destructive tests.

Other Information Observations of competences to include assembly of welding equipment. Successful candidates will receive an Open College Network Certificate (Level 2) for each unit completed. Candidates will be expected, as a pre-requisite for the Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded unit, to undertake the Oxy-acetylene Welding unit. This is necessary to develop the hand and eye co-ordination skills to ensure candidates achieve the levels of competence required for TAGS. 50% REMITTED FEE ONLY
