About this course
Our five-year MEng Mechanical Engineering degree course begins with two years of intensive core study, giving you a thorough understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines. The third year is spent on an industrial placement, ensuring you can put your extensive subject knowledge into practice, and increasing your employability once you graduate. Having built a strong foundation in engineering, your fourth and fifth years of study will be largely made up of optional modules. This allows you to develop a specialism,...
Home and EU students 2016 entry: £9,000 per year Year in Industry: £900 Please note the tuition fee you pay may increase slightly each year in line with inflation and subject to UK government regulations. If you have applied for a Tuition Fee Loan (see below), your loan entitlement will automatically increase to reflect any changes; you will...

Course programme
Modules shown are for the current academic year, and are subject to change depending on your year of entry.
All students spend the first two years following the same core programme of studies, which provides the fundamental knowledge and intellectual and practical skills that are required by all mechanical engineers.
In year three you spend time on an industrial placement with a relevant employer, ensuring real-world experience of mechanical engineering with a focus of putting theory into practice.
In year four you select a substantial individual project and choose further optional modules, which are taught at Master’s level.
You will be expected to achieve at least 40% in each academic year in order to pass, as well as other requirements (see Teaching and Assessment).
