Course programme
The underlying philosophy of the Mental Capacity Act is to ensure that individuals who lack capacity remain the focus of any decisions made, or actions taken, on their behalf. This means that staff should adopt an individual approach, which centres around the interests of the person who lacks capacity, not the views or convenience of those caring for and supporting that person. Staff should make every effort to ensure that vulnerable people are helped to make as many decisions as possible for themselves.
