Who is this course for?

Adults aged 19+ recovering from mental health difficulties that are at a stage in their recovery where they are able to benefit from being and studying at college. The applicants should be at a stage in their recovery where they are ready to make a commitment to the course, attend regularly and be able to cope with the college environment. This module is one of many on our Community Link programme. Students are expected to choose a selection of modules to make up a full programme. However, all students on Community Link will be required to attend one Core Module session.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Students will need to be able to demonstrate that they have Literacy skills at E2 or above, either through existing qualifications or by taking a test at interview.

What will I study ?

The weekly Core Module gives learners opportunity to check in with their Personal Tutor, meet other learners, take part in college life and find out what is happening on the course and at the college in general. There is an emphasis on working as a group in all Core Modules. Core Modules give students the opportunity to gain credits in Personal and Social Development (PSD) and obtain a relevant certificate upon completion. As well as the Wednesday Group B, there are other groups on Tuesday and Thursday.

How will I be assessed ?

Assessment is done by building up a portfolio over the second semester from February to July.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

There is no qualification attached to Semester One however students who complete the semester successfully can progress to Semester Two where they have the opportunity to gain credits in 'Personal and Social Development' (PSD), an Edexcel qualification at Entry 3 level.
