* BA German, German History or European Studies.

* Candidates from other disciplines but with degree-level knowledge of the German language are also encouraged to apply.

* Applicants who have had a long break in studies since the completion of their first degree, or with a qualification below the normally required undergraduate degree, can enrol for Birkbeck’s one-year Graduate Diploma in German Studies, which consists of the most advanced courses of our BA, in order to prepare and qualify for the MA.
