About this course

You will need four GCSEs grades A C, or a BTEC First Diploma with a merit or distinction, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification. Relevant experience in this field of study will be taken into consideration for adults returning to education.

What will I learn?
This course will provide you with a full-time programme of learning in Music Technology. The qualification covers a variety of practical music making skills such as practical digital and analogue recording techniques, the music business, electronic music production, music theory, and self-employment opportunities. The qualification can lead into either a Level 4 Higher National Diploma in Music Production or provide the points required to allow access to Higher Education courses such as degrees and foundation degrees. You should have a keen interest in all aspects of music production with the emphasis on music technology.

How will I be taught?
This course is taught in a classroom through seminars, lectures and workshops.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical projects, observation and written assessments.

What could I do next?
You could progress onto university. You could possibly gain employment in the music industry working as a runner, sound engineer, A&R talent scout, marketing and PR officer or even signed as an artist. You will be trained in interview techniques that will enable you to penetrate the freelance side of the business, where 75% of employment opportunities occur.
