About the course:
Nail Art involves nail decoration including the application of stones, transfers and glitter dust to real or artificial nails. This is used particularly in connection with festive events. An important factor for this qualification is to ensure the health and safety of the client and the operator. This is based on health and safety legislation and compliance with good hygiene practice.

You will learn throughout the course, why prior client approval of the designs is important, the limiting factors to client expectations, be able to provide a portfolio range of designs for the client to choose from and be able to reproduce them successfully. You will gain an understanding on how to agree an original design for the client and show knowledge of the purpose of nail protection (base coat) and nail cleansing products. You will also learn about the importance of commercial times for treatments and the differences between nail art applied to extensions and natural nails.

Progression:
The successful completion of this qualification provides opportunity to progress to the Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Beauty Therapy, Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Nail Services and the VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques or to employment in salons and establishments offering nail art.
