Course Modules
Module 1 - Anatomy, Physiology & Biomechanics
The main areas covered in this module are The Musculoskeletal System (muscle properties, actions, origins and insertions) and The Biomechanics of Movement. The Cardio-Respiratory, Lymphatic and Nervous Systems will also be covered.
Module 2 - Sports Nutrition
Main nutrients - source and benefits, designing a healthy eating plan, eating disorders, diabetes, sports supplements, creatine and steriod use are covered on our sports nutrition module.
Module 3 - Sports Health Screening
There is an increased awareness of health and exercise today. With the growing interest in sport and other leisure activities, there is a large demand for suitably qualified people to professionally evaluate an individuals' health condition to determine their ability to participate in sporting and exercise activities. School of Sport aims to equip the fitness professional with the skills necessary to perform such a task. Area's covered include Approach to Consultations, Interpreting Health History, Conditions Requiring Medical Clearance, Body Composition Analysis, Range of Movement Testing/Joint Flexibility, Recognising Muscle Imbalance, Conditions of the Vertebral Column, Factors Affecting Participation in Sport and Lifestyle Management.
Module 4 - Exercise to Music / Team Fitness
Area's covered in this module include Studio Training (Aerobics, LME, Circuits and Swiss Ball Training), Outdoor Training, Individual & Team Drills, Voice Projection, Class Planning, Cueing, Music Selection, Training Intensity and Sport Specific Training.
Module 5 - The National Diploma in Athletic Strength & Conditioning
This is one of the most comprehensive courses in Ireland for athletic strength and conditioning. No other course in the country covers more resistance training, core stabilty and flexibility exercises than School of Sport. Subjects covered include Training for Muscle Strength, Power, Agility, Flexibility, Hypertrophy and Rehabilitation. From a practical sense this module covers movement in all its form and is very important as techniques learned will be brought across to other modules such as sports health screening and exercise to music/team fitness. Graduates of The National Diploma in Personal Training, Health Management & Team Fitness will also be awarded The National Diploma in Athletic Strength & Conditioning to recognise the level of training received in this area.
Module 6 - Business Registration / Web Design
Business Registration, Tax Obligations, Insurance, Commercial Trends, Marketing, Advertising and Web Design.
Qualifications
No other personal trainer course in Ireland qualifies participants to the level of School of Sport qualifications. What other providers call extra's we call standard. Do not accept second best - attain a professional qualification through School of Sport.
To participate on our diploma course you must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course. Because there is a strong element of home study and practice required, participants should ideally be academically of Leaving Cerfificate standard.
