The NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Entry to the Uniformed Services is made up of seven units. You will study six core units and one specialist unit.

The topics you will study include:

· Investigate work opportunities
· Well-being and physical fitness
· Developing team working skills
· Self discipline and development
· Basic map reading and navigation
· Health, safety and emergency care.

The specialist unit is participating in competitive sports.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills, communications and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are studying.

The course is an excellent first step towards a career or further study in Public Services.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed by coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities. The awarding body sets the coursework criteria for all of the units.

You will be given plenty of support with coursework and assessments. Tutors and support staff are available to guide you through the different projects and assignments, to ensure that you get the most from your Level 1 course.

Progression
On successful completion you may:

Progress to the next level of qualification such as the BTEC First
Diploma in Public Services or to further study in a different subject such as the BTEC First Diploma in Sport or Outdoor Activities.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 4 GCSEs at grades C E.
