NCFE Level 1 in Radio Production
This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to explore the uses of technology and provides experiences which will deepen and broaden their radio interests and skills. The qualification is suitable for any learner wishing to:
  • Understand the basics of radio production
  • use studio equipment
  • develop their performance skills (e.g. in radio presenting, Dj-ing and Mc-ing)
  • contribute to the production of a sequence (this could be a performing role and/or technical role)
  • work within a creative environment as part of a team
You will be able to select an area which particularly interests you, e.g. a performance or technical role.

Some of the units may include:
  • Developing and using MC skills
  • Understanding and developing DJ skills
  • Developing and using radio presentation skills
  • Exploring employment opportunities in the radio industry.
  • Understanding sound
  • Microphone techniques

When you come for assessment we will work with you to identify the appropriate start date, duration, level of study and content which will help you achieve your personal and employment goals.

What next?
Your main opportunity for work experience is working within RNC's commercial recording sessions and during live performances in the College. External work placements are also possible and learners have previously been placed in radio/recording studios, theatres and music events all over the UK.
