NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity


Course content:
The course aims to provide a structured training programme which will enable you to improve your knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity.

The course will cover the following areas:
· The meaning and importance of equality and diversity
· The promotion of equality and diversity
· Social and individual prejudice and discrimination
· Individual and organisational rights and responsibilities
You will be provided with a series of workbooks for the programme which you can work through at your own pace, and at times convenient to you â€" so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The workbooks contain the knowledge you require to progress towards achieving the qualification with activities to allow you to practise skills and test your learning.
You will have access to a tutor who will support you throughout the programme. Your tutor will agree a schedule of work with you that suit your particular circumstances.
Typically the programme can be completed in 12â€"20 weeks. You will be entitled to receive a minimum of 8.5 hours of 1:1 support throughout the programme.
You will be able to contact your tutor and/or the college for help, support and guidance at any stage of the course. Your tutor will provide you with detailed feedback on your work.

Assessment procedure:
You will work through the learning materials and complete assessment tasks at the end of each unit. Learning activities and assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience.
On successful completion of the 3 units you will be awarded a certificate.
The qualification is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body â€" NCFE. Candidates work through the distance-learning course materials at their own pace, and at times convenient to them â€" so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification.

Progression opportunities:
On completion you could progress on to a range of programmes including NVQs. The specific progression route will depend on your vocational choice. In addition more general routes are also appropriate, for example Health and Safety or Customer Relations.

Free study and financial support:
Many part-time students at South Tyneside College do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, depending on the course and the number of hours a week you study, you may be eligible for an Adult Learners†Grant.
