Achieving this award

The NCFE Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates' Performance through Observation is made up of one mandatory unit:

  • Unit 01 Assess candidates' performance through observation
    • Element 2.1 Agree and review plans for assessing candidates' performance
    • Element 2.2 Assess candidates' performance against the agreed standards
    • Element 2.3 Assess candidates' knowledge against the agreed standards
    • Element 2.4 Make an assessment decision and provide feedback

To achieve the Award, candidates must successfully complete the mandatory unit.

To successfully complete the unit, each candidate has to provide evidence satisfying all the ‘statements of competence' or performance and knowledge requirements in the unit.

Progression opportunities

This Award can provide progression to further qualifications at Level 3 or 4 in the same and related subject areas.

This may include:

  • NCFE Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates using a Range of Methods (A1)
  • NCFE Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V1)
  • NCFE Level 4 Award in Conducting External Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V2)
  • Level 3 or 4 NVQ in Learning and Development

Assessment guidance and evidence requirements

This Award is assessed through a combination of performance and knowledge evidence which will be externally verified by NCFE. Where possible a holistic approach should be taken.
