Course programme
NCFE in Preparation for Uniformed Services
GCSE Points: 50 (2 D-G GCSE)
What will I study?
You will learn the important skills needed if you want to work in any of the public or uniformed services. This will include things such as teamwork and problem solving, map reading, health and safety and the importance of physical fitness.
How will I learn?
You will learn through classroom discussions and exercises or activities. Some research may be required in your own time using various sources such as the internet or current media sources (newspapers, journals etc.) Your work will then be presented as an assignment or as an answered task sheet given to you by the tutor.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed through a combination of written work and observed exercises. However the written work is not extensive and will often be in the form of worksheets based on issues discussed in class, or based on any practical exercises you have done either individually or as a group. You may also be given tasks by the tutor, which you will be asked to write up and present as an assignment.
Will there be any homework?
Homework may be set and you will be expected to do some research in your own time as part of any assignments you are given.
How long will the course take?
Half or one day a week for two years or as agreed with your school.
Where can this course lead me when I finish school?
This qualification could help your application to a full-time course at the college or it could be used to help you gain entry into the public or uniformed services at recruit level.
