(NCPLH) National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders

Under the Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the sale by retail or the supply of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must by law hold a licensing qualification which is:

  • Government approved (DCMS)

The Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, is DCMS approved, and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.

  • The examination is closed book with one paper of
  • 40 multiple-choice questions
  • Candidate has to correctly answer any 28 or more questions within the 60 minutes allowed
  • Candidates normally receive their result within 7 working days
  • For those who do not achieve a pass, a re-sit will be required

On successful assessment:

  • The Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders which is DCMS approved qualification, and meets the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
  • Recognised by all licensing authorities as evidence of the applicant's knowledge and understanding of licensing law and the social responsibilities associated with running licensed premises.
