Which course is delivered?
The course prepares the candidates for the National Diploma Examination (NEBDN) and not only provides the theory aspect of the course, but also regular sessions helping candidates to complete the "Record of Experience ".
What's the Record of Experience? The "Record of Experience" is part of the new frame work of the NEBDN and requires all candidates to complete a folder of evidence, based on your practical skills over a period of time. This Record of Experience must be complete before candidates are able to sit the summative assessment, as of May 2010.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is open to anyone who meets the entry requirement and is employed in the clinical dental environment. The course is undertaken over a 1 year period to ensure all learners are given an equal opportunity to achieve and meet the standards.
Where is the course held?
The course is held at our training centre in Newport Road Rumney Cardiff in an area that has easy access from Newport and Cardiff and full parking facilities. Tooth FairiesDental Training Group will offer a rolling programme of intakes during the year, in line with the NEBDN examination timetables.
Course Information
The course follows the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses programme and will provide you with both the knowledge and skills to enter the Dental Diploma Examination for Dental Nurses.
The course covers the following syllabus areas, over a set period of time:
Ø Health & Safety and Infection Control in the Workplace.
Ø Emergencies in the clinical Environment.
Ø Legal & Ethical Issues in the Provision of Dental Care.
Ø Anatomical Structures & Systems Relative to Dental Care.
Ø Oral Disease and Pathology.
Ø Patient Care & Management.
Ø Assessing Patients Needs & Treatment Planning.
Ø Oral Health Promotion & Preventative Dentistry.
Ø Restorative Dentistry.
Ø Oral Surgery.
Ø Orthodontic Procedures
Ø Dental Drugs, Materials, Instruments and equipment.
Ø Pain and anxiety Control In Dentistry.
Ø Radiography.
Ø Communication.
Learning will take place through theoretical and practical based skills. Continual assessments will be undertaken using examination formats, including multiple choice and short answer questions, diagrams, charting and essay questions. Practical sessions include preparation for the OSCE practical examination.
Continual assessment throughout the course.
