Overview of the course:

A practical 1 day course - During the training you will gain the practical skills and knowledge to enable you to take a practical assessment. The assessment will be on the day following completion of the training.

Topics:

1. Health and Safety in the use of Ride on Mowers, including road worthiness.

2. Operator maintenance including:

• Fuel/engine oil/hydraulic oil levels

• Coolant levels/air filters

• Cutting cylinder/ sole plate adjustment

• Safety and adjustments of belts, drivers and guards

• Lubrication points

• Battery maintenance

• Tyre pressures

Note: Maintenance will be altered to match requirements of specific machines.

3. Starting / stopping procedures

4. Gear and speed selection

5. Operating procedures including mowing on slopes and revising

6. Mowing patterns and quality
