At King’s, you’ll be part of a community of people from across the globe. Just like you, everyone on the course has decided to change career paths or start a new phase of their life, so you’ll meet people from a range of backgrounds.

Location

A lot of your time will be spent on placements at hospitals around London. We’ll cover the theory side of your work with lectures and seminars at King’s too. Teaching happens at our campuses, including:

  • Guy’s

Course purpose

The overall aims of the programme are to enable graduates to acquire advanced understanding, knowledge and skills in nursing in order that they may deliver, develop, lead and research healthcare practice. In addition, the programme aims to ensure that nurses who graduate are skilled, competent and compassionate professionals who have satisfied the academic and clinical requirements and standards stipulated in the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards of proficiency and the academic requirements of King's College London for the award of a Masters degree.

Course format and assessment

Teaching

Our lecturers feed their latest research findings into teaching to keep you up to date with new thinking in the fast-paced world of healthcare.

To become a confident children’s nurse, you need to learn how to handle difficult situations, think on your feet and quickly build relationships. We continually challenge you with different activities, whether it’s evaluating a new policy, or doing a simulation involving realistic mannequins and parents played by actors.

Assessment

Throughout the course we assess your learning in a variety of ways. From exams and essays to clinical portfolios and a supervised dissertation, you’ll find it’s different from module to module.
