What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course students will need *An excellent reference from their employer, *A Level 1 NVQ, *Proof of working in the Construction Industry and to provide evidence that they can complete a full range of practical work on site, *A reasonable level of education (studied up to GCSE level), *To be in good health to enable you to achieve all units eg scaffolding which requires them to work at height, Students are required to provide a named person from a site who will act as their "work based recorder" and students must agree to work to College, School and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) regulations. (An informal interview is required).
Course Structure
These are the titles of the units you will study; Mandatory Core Units (Bench Joinery): *Store resources ready for use, *Erect and dismantle working platforms, *Contribute to efficient working practices. Carpentry and Joinery Site Work Option: *Produce Joinery setting out details, *Mark out joinery from setting out details, *Manufacture Joinery products, *Tutorial, *Practical, *Theory. This qualification requires the students to supply relevant, suitable work-based evidence. Where relevant students to complete external tests, study and be assessed externally on key-skills. Students are also expected to provide their own pen, pencil, scale ruler, calculator, eraser, steel toe capped boots and overalls (if required).
