Course programme

The award offers supervisors, team leaders, line managers, teachers and trainers a programme of training in the techniques, skills and principles of assessing competency using a variety of assessment methods leading to a national award, which will qualify them to assess NVQ candidates. We specialise in delivering this course specifically for assessing care workers.

You will be required to submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence as an assessor and your knowledge of assessment principles. Your assessor will observe you carrying out the feedback of assessment with a candidate in their workplace, and you will be required to conduct a professional discussion with your assessor in your own workplace.

Successful completion leads to the Certificate in Assessing Candidates using a Range of Methods (Vocational Assessor award A1). As well as being a qualification in its own right, A1 enables you to progress to further assessment qualifications as it is integral to both the Internal and External Verifier awards.
