Students are responsible for arranging clients for assessments purposes. Good communication skills are essential and a minimum of 90% attendance is essential.

What will I study?
This qualification will enable students to demonstrate a broad range of varied work activities, required by the hairdressing and beauty therapy industries. Hairdressing at this level requires a degree of personal responsibility and autonomy and the ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.

How can I progress?
Students can progress to Level 2 (NVQ) Diploma in Hairdressing or level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Barbering or employment. For those already in employment the qualification offers progression to promotion prospects.

Course Structure
In order to gain a full certificate all mandatory units must be completed, plus three optional units. Mandatory Units; *Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety *Advise and consult with clients *Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, *Cut hair using basic barbering techniques, *Dry and finish mens hair. Optional Units; *Change mens hair colour *Fulfil salon recptions duties A portfolio of evidence will be produced by students.
