Hairdressing - Diploma Level 2 (NVQ)
What will I study?
This qualification will enable the student to work on a range of practical and theoretical skills in Hairdressing and real work activities.

How can I progress?
Students can progress to Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering or Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing, an Advanced Diploma or employment. For those already in employment the qualification offers progression to promotion prospects.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
Entry through personal interview paying particular attention to school reports and/or Records of Achievement (school leavers only). Students are expected to provide a hairdressing kit and salon wear and have a good standard of personal presentation and hygiene. Students are also responsible for arranging models for assessment purposes. Good communication skills are required and a minimum of 90% attendance must be maintained throughout the course.

Course Structure
In order to gain a full certificate all mandatory units must be completed. Mandatory units consist of: *Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety, *Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation, *Advise and consult with clients, *Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, *Change hair colour, *Style and finish hair, *Set and dress hair, *Cut hair using basic techniques. Plus *Fulfil salon reception duties Hairdressing at this level requires a degree of personal responsibility and autonomy and the ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team. A portfolio of evidence will be produced by all students completing this course.
