How does it work

To achieve a full Level 3 NVQ in Business Improvements, candidates must achieve nine units made up of seven mandatory units and two additional optional units.

The mandatory units are:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Contributing to effective team working
  • Leading effective teams
  • Applying Six Sigma Methodology to a project
  • Carrying out Six Sigma Process Mapping
  • Applying basic statistics
  • Carrying out potential failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)

The optional units, of which two must be chosen, are:

  • carrying out statistical process control procedures (SPC)
  • applying Six Sigma Metrics to a project
  • producing a characteristics selection matrix
  • carrying out measurement systems analysis (MSA)
  • carrying out capability studies
  • producing multi-variance charts
  • applying hypothesis testing
  • carrying out mistake/error proofing (Poka Yoke).
