Course Content: This course will provide you with an insight into one of the top 10 preferred careers, whilst giving you the opportunity to not only work alongside Level 3 graduates but also carryout basic hairdressing treatments on clients. The NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing Assistants course is suitable for those wishing to progress onto NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing. On the course you will be required to carry out a range of practical activities in a realistic working environment.

The NVQ consists of 6 units which are detailed below:

· Shampoo and conditioning

· Contribute to effective working relationships

· Reception duties

· Blow Dry

· Assist with colouring

· Health and Safety

· Prepare and maintain work area

You will be assed in various formats including by;

Practical - Carry out practical activities in a realistic working environment

Assignment - Researched material presented in a file

Written - Multiple choice questions completed online

Oral - Questions to check underpinning knowledge

Key/Functional Skills - You will be required to study Maths and English alongside your Hairdressing programme.

Special Features: All successful candidates will be required to purchase a kit and uniform from the College. The cost of the kit and uniform is approximately £250.00

Progression: Once you have completed the course and met the course criteria, you will be given the opportunity to progress onto NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, where you will study more in-depth the role of the hairdresser and build upon your Level 1 qualification.
