NVQ Level 2 Business Improvement Techniques

NVQs are practical qualifications which assess and recognise the skills, knowledge and understanding your employees have in a work situation. This NVQ offers your employees the opportunity to demonstrate they have the skills to carry out their role to national standards.

Having a recognised qualification will help them in their work, and open doors to future career development.

How long will it take?

Six units must be completed. This can be done over a period of time, which is negotiable with our trainers and assessors.

There are no written exams – our assessors will look at the evidence your employees provide to see whether they meet the requirements. Evidence could include statements from managers or records such as plans, charts or reports.

What does the course cover?

Five mandatory units and one optional unit must be completed.

Mandatory units

• Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
• Contributing to effective team working
• Applying workplace organisation techniques
• Applying continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen)
• Creating visual management systems

Optional units

• Analysing and selecting parts for improvements
• Carrying out lead time analysis
• Applying set-up reduction techniques
• Applying Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
• Applying problem solving techniques
• Carrying out Statistical Process Control procedures (SPC)
• Applying flow process analysis
• Carrying out potential Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Carrying out Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
• Carrying out mistake/error proofing (Poka Yoke)
• Creating standard operating procedure

Each unit is broken down into elements, which describe the tasks to be carried out.
