Course Content: You will gain an insight into a variety of aspects of sport leadership including: planning, delivering and evaluating football and sport sessions; promoting safety in sport; maintaining facility areas; child protection policies and emergency first aid.
You will be delivering football and sport sessions to a variety of participants including other college students, secondary students and primary school students.
Special Features: Students will also be expected to purchase a sport kit . Ffurther details will be given at interview.
Course Format: The course will allow the improvement and training of interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, individual research and working to set deadlines. You will learn through lectures, workshops, demonstrations, guest speakers, self study and practical application of leadership skills.
You will be assessed continually through observation of tasks, practical work, written assignments, internal tests, homework and work experience reports.
Students build up a portfolio of evidence to show competence to nationally agreed standards. When ready, they are then assessed and internally verified before the external verifier formally approves the qualification award.
Progression: You will have a nationally recognised qualification that will enable you to enter employment in areas such as activity leadership, coaching assistant and leisure/recreation attendants.
