This qualification is aimed at those who have considerable experience in caring for and working with horses. The course covers all aspects of horse care in some depth and is aimed at those working in a supervisory role.
The course is made up of 6 mandatory units and 1 group of optional units:
Mandatory Units:
* Plan and Monitor routing care
* Promote and maintain the health and well- being of horses
* Prepare horses for work
* Maintain the health and well being of horses during transportation
* Maintain activities to meet requirements (management unit)
* Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
Optional Units Group A: Exercising Option
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Work horses to improve fitness
Group B: Schooling Option
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Exercise schooled horses to maintain training
Group C: Light Horse Driving Option
* Prepare driving horses and vehicles for use and contribute to the daily exercise programmes for driving horse
* Drive horse on the road
Group D: Heavy Horse Option
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Work heavy horses
Group E: Trekking Options
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Provide Trekking opportunities
Group F: Polo Options
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Contribute to the training of polo ponies
Group G: Breaking Option
* Contribute to the training of young horses
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
Group H: Breading Option
* Contribute to getting mare in foal and maintain stud documentation
* Care for the mare and foal
Group I: Coaching Option
* Work horses to improve fitness
* Prepare for coaching sessions
* Conduct coaching sessions
Group J: Competition Option
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a work programme for horses
* Provide specialist care to the performance horse
Additional accredited units:
* Contribute to the management of stallions under supervision
* Train ponies to improve polocrosse performance
* Maintain and repair structures and surfaces
* Prepare and maintain horses on grazing land
