Oil Painting (including Methods and Materials)

This materials focused painting course will offer an introduction to the techniques that were commonly used by the masters of the renaissance. Students will gain experience in preparing high quality supports for oil painting and will have the opportunity to make their own paint. These preparations will be used throughout the course in still life and portrait paintings. The course will also involve visiting museums and galleries.

Termly enrolment is possible for all courses and applicants must be over seventeen years of age. Fees are payable in advance for all courses and each course is devised for a limited number of students, so early enrolment is advisable. Students wishing to transfer from one course to another will be subject to a transfer fee. Fees are non-refundable. Please note: Heatherley School of Fine Art reserves the right to cancel, combine or reschedule courses, or adjust fees, or substitute lecturers as necessary.

Materials and School Shop
Easels, boards, printing inks and some sculpture materials are provided but students are expected to supply any additional materials needed. The School Shop stocks a range of art materials at reasonable prices.
