The department has excellent links with other agencies, including Local Education Authorities, Social Services, Connexions, Shaw and Remploy. Every care is taken to match the learner with the appropriate course.
Interesting Facts
This programme offers students the opportunity to develop their communication skills, social skills and interactive skills to their maximum potential, enabling them to relate more effectively with other people and their environment. Students with classic autism, autistic type behaviours, associated learning difficulties and disabilities such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Epilipsy, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Dyspraxia are all targeted by the courses teaching approach.

Assessment
Baseline assessment takes place from September to December. Students are assessed in communication skills, social skills, independence skills and numeracy through a range of classroom and community based activities.
