Course summary:
It is a two-year programme of study, supported by some of the biggest names in British business.

The aim of the programme is to provide a relatively broad and rounded education for a young person studying for Level 3 qualifications, rather than training for any specific career or business sector. As well as excellent subject knowledge, the programme equips students with valuable life skills. Employability training forms a key part of the curriculum offer.

Students benefit from:

â- A six-week paid internship with a major employer during the summer. We've joined with local and national employers - including Yorkshire Bank, South Tyneside Council, and Barclays to give you the opportunity to practice the skills you learn through work placements.

The programme helps young people achieve their full potential. Hand in hand with the qualifications and business experience, students develop life skills - time management, interview techniques, public speaking etc â€" and significantly grow in confidence.

Course content:
Personal and business finance is a broad area, covering public, private and voluntary organisations, but this qualification will appeal especially to those wishing to enter or gain further knowledge of financial services. This sector contributes significantly to the economy and specialists involved in advising and counselling require detailed underpinning knowledge and expertise to be fully conversant with the demands of the sector and provide appropriate customer support.
The course covers six units:
* Financial Services for Individuals
* Business Financial Performance
* Financial Services to Support Business
* Financial Service Regulation, Ethics and Trends
* Preparing for Employment
* Learning from Employment

Course structure:
2 Year course.

Assessment procedure:
All units are internally assessed and graded by teachers. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Entry requirements:
5 GCSE'S A-C including maths and English

Qualifications achieved:
It carries UCAS points and is the equivalent to one A level. It is a requirement that students will also undertake other courses, of their choosing, which are the equivalent of a further two A levels.

Progression opportunities:
92.5% go onto higher education, or an equivalent level of work- related training.
