What will you be learning?
This course will help prepare students for entry into the construction industry and consists of learning and practising a wide range of skills in painting and decorating.

You will be assessed by practical tests, a theory test, completion of a portfolio and an externally set end-of-course examination.

What happens when you have finished?
After you have successfully completed this course, you can progress onto the Diploma in Painting and Decorating Level 3 or an NVQ 2 through employment.

You may not have to pay this tuition fee if:

• You are unemployed and in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance (contribution-based)
• You are in receipt of, or are an un-waged dependent of someone currently in receipt of any of the following "income-based" benefits:

  • Income-related Employments and Support ALlowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Working Tax Credit (your assessed household income needs to be less than 15,276 per year (amount subject to change)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit (excluding the 25% single person reduction)
  • Pension Credit - Guaranteed only
• You are studying for your
  
  first full Level 2 qualification, whatever your age.
• You are aged 19-24 on the 31st of August prior to the start of your course and studying for your
  
  first full Level 3 qualification, whatever your age.
