Painting for Beginners

Your Course
This course is suitable for absolute beginners. The aim of the course is to develop confidence and skill in a range of painting materials and techniques. Students will be encouraged to develop their own approach to common themes in art. Over the course students will be using Watercolour and Oil paints to work towards a finished painting by the end of the course. A detailed course outline will be given to students at the beginning of the course. Advice on materials needed will be given in the first session. Materials are not included in the course fee, but are available to be purchased at the college at a reasonable price.

Learning Outcomes
· Confidence to experiment with a range of painting to enable students to pursue their own aims.
· Increased practical knowledge in using tone, colour, line and texture.
· Knowledge of some of the ways famous artists have used a range of paint techniques.

Your Tutor
Tom McPherson studied at Chelsea School of Art and Central St. Martin's School of Art in London. He is a practising and exhibiting painter. He also teaches creative workshops for children in Cambridge. His work has been included in many exhibitions including the Royal Festival Hall and Christie's Auctioneers in London and Kettle's Yard in Cambridge.

Day and time: Wednesday 7-9pm

Tuition fees: £90

Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Half term:
Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
