Painting & Decorating Part Time Day Diploma Level 2

Course Overview
This course is aimed at those wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification for work as a Painter & Decorator.
There are two forms of the qualification:

• Diploma Level 2
• NVQ Level 2 (candidates must be employed within the trade to gain the NVQ)

Course Structure
The course runs over 1-2 years with attendance at college for one full day per week.

The course consists of 9 units + a multi-choice test. The following areas are covered:

• Surface preparation
• Application of paints
• Paper hanging
• Basic access platforms
• Preparing a workstation
• Efficient working practices
• Specialist paint techniques

Relevant health & safety issues are covered throughout the course.
If you are employed in the trade you can collect relevant work based evidence towards achieving the NVQ Level 2
(Candidates studying towards the NVQ L2 must also pass an external CSCS Health & Safety Test)

Qualification Aims
After successful completion of the course, candidates will receive either:

• Level 2 Diploma (if you are not employed in the trade)
• Level 2 NVQ (if you are employed in the trade)

Assessments/Examinations
Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the course
Candidates achieve at their own pace
External multi-choice test

Tuition Fees: To be confirmed

Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or to their unwaged dependants.
If you are not on benefits but find it difficult to pay any course related costs due to financial hardship.
