AAT Payroll Administration Level 2 NVQ
This course is ideal for those who are beginning work in payroll services or for those who have been working with payroll for some time and wish to gain a formal qualification. The aim of the course is to cover the accounting occupational standards as written by the AOSG (Accounting Occupational Standards Group) in consultation with employers, the AAT, chartered bodies and training providers. As a result, students successfully completing the course will be endowed with skills that are valued by employers and highly relevant to the workplace.

Course Content:
As with all NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications), this qualification involves you producing real evidence from your day-to-day work which demonstrates that you meet the standards of the qualification. The units covered are:

  • Maintaining employee records
  • Ascertaining gross pay
  • Determining net pay
  • Working with computers
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy, safe and productive working environment
  • Achieving personal effectiveness


  • Awarding body:
    Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
    Entry Requirements:
    Prior knowledge and experience of the subject is desirable. Applicants will also need to be registered with AAT. Applicants will also have a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.

    Entry Process:
    There is no interview required.

    Assessment:
    By three methods: Examination set and marked by AAT held in December and June Devolved assessments marked by the college including: AAT prepared simulations and workplace evidence Portfolio preparation.

    Progression Routes:
    Candidates may wish to Progression to AAT Intermediate NVQ Level III in Accounting.

    Related Courses:
    The College offers expert tuition and support in preparing students for all AAT courses, including NVQ Level II in Payroll Administration, Foundation NVQ Level II, Intermediate NVQ Level III and Technician NVQ Level IV.
