PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The BA (Hons) Fashion with Business Degree is the right course for you if you are interested in working in the exciting fashion industry. You will be creative, stylish and ambitious. You will be aware of trends on the high street, look at fashion weekly footage and love clothing.

You may have been on a creative arts course or already be studying fashion design at Further Education Level. You could be working in an area unrelated to fashion but thinking of switching careers. You will have a creative design portfolio produced at college or in your own time and may have produced your own clothing, photography and computer aided design work. You will be hardworking and willing to experiment with new ideas.

The first year will be a grounding in all aspects of fashion design including pattern cutting, knitwear, graphics, ICT, styling, fabric printing and photography.

The second year of the programme will help you to find your own key strengths with specialist options at the end of semester one. You can choose your own creative outcome depending on your specialist area. Projects will generally be given a generic theme, pattern cutting students will produce garments, graphics specialists may produce styling, photography and magazine layouts.

It will be desirable for you to complete a work placement in industry in a company related to your desired career path. This vital insight into the working world is invaluable in preparing you for life as an employable graduate.

In the third and final year of the programme you will enter into a sustained period of research and practical creative work in a subject of your choice via negotiation with your personal tutor. This is your Final Project where you will also produce a dissertation.

The collaborative skills of the course tutors together with their experience in industry and education provides you with a solid and practical learning environment. The team looks forward to transforming your skills and ideas from fashion student to employable graduate and we hope you enjoy your journey on the course.
