Is this course right for me?

If you are interested in learning how to cut men's hair, then this course will be of interest to you. This course gives opportunities to develop clipper and scissor cutting techniques that will be of use in the hairdressing profession.

What will I be learning?

This course gives opportunities to develop clipper as well as scissor cutting techniques that will be of use to all in the hairdressing profession. Students will also cover the trimming and shaping of beards and be introduced to shaving techniques as a part of the course. You will need to supply some models to ensure that you get the maximum amount of practice, a bank of 4 or 5 customers is ideal. This unit from NVQ Level 2 Barbering gives opportunities to refresh, develop and learn cutting techniques.

How will I learn?

You will be continually assessed throughout the course by way of direct observation, oral questions, written tasks (projects) and final written tests for each unit. You are required to register with VTCT and purchase an assessment logbook.

What else might I want to know?

You will be required to wear a salon uniform for some classes and will need to purchase a kit and text book for your personal use within classes.

This course is suitable for students with or without other hairdressing qualifications.

What can I do afterwards?

On completion of this course, you may progress to Level 3
